Bird's eye view street navi
| 25/12 | Filed under: Mobility

My next phone, the KDDI AU A5403CA will sport a 2 megapixel autofocus camera. It is also one of the 3 phones offered by AU with the MS GPS ship that enables direct communication with GPS satellites.

All other AU phones offer GPS - navi - that still needs relay antennas to communicate with satellites thus incuring data download to the phone which the user has to pay for. However, unlike the 2 other phones, it uses Java for its applications and not Brew, therefore it was not able to use the new Pedestrian Street Navi (described in more details here).
Well, MTI is now offering a Java appli equivalent to the Navi Walk Brew appli for 300yen a month. Its particularity is that you will be able to view the city at a 45degree angle (bird's eye view) rather than the usual flat on top view. Future additions to the service will see the display of the city change according to the current weather or time of the day.
Can you see the buildings' snow-capped tops?
